Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Spin
Aristides Aquino went 2-for-4 and blasted a three-run homer in a 5-0 win over the Marlins on Wednesday. Another homer, another batch of records for the rookie phenom. He took Sandy Alcantara deep with two runners aboard in the first inning. He now has 13 home runs in the month of August, which ties him with Cody Bellinger for the most homers by any rookie in any month in National League history. The Reds have four more games in August thanks to a double-header on Saturday against the Cardinals. Aquino reached 13 homers in 27 career games, faster than any player ever. Aquino also doubled in the ballgame and is slashing .315/.382/.783 with 29 RBI and two stolen bases in 88 at-bats. Prior to his call-up he set a franchise record with 28 home runs at Triple-A Louisville and he did it in only 78 games.
Miami Marlins Fantasy Spin
Garrett Cooper went 1-for-4 with a double during Wednesday’s loss to the Reds. The Marlins managed just four base hits in yet another shutout loss. They couldn’t get anything going against Anthony DeSclafani in this one. Cooper’s double was their only extra-base hit of the evening. Cooper has fallen on hard times of late. His once-studly slash line has declined to .279/.346/.433 with 12 home runs and 43 RBI in 93 games.
