Judge hits 100th homer in win
New York rolled to a 7-0 victory Tuesday night at Seattle to improve to 87-47 overall and 38-27 on the road. Aaron Judge helped pace the Yankees offense as he went 2-for-5 with the 100th home run of his MLB career and two RBIs. Brett Gardner finished 1-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two runs scored and three RBIs. Austin Romine ended the night 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and two RBIs. Masahiro Tanaka picked up the win as he allowed three hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over seven shutout innings. James Paxton draws the start this afternoon for New York as he enters with a 10-6 record, 4.43 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 152 strikeouts over 120 innings pitched.
M's shut out by Yankees
Seattle lost by a count of 7-0 at home Tuesday night against New York to drop to 56-77 overall and 29-39 at home. Kyle Seager and Omar Narvaez paced the Mariners offense as they both finished 1-for-4 with a double. Tim Lopes ended the contest 1-for-3. Yusei Kikuchi took the loss as he surrendered five earned runs on eight hits with one strikeout and three walks over four innings pitched. Justus Sheffield draws the start today for Seattle as he comes in with an 0-0 record, 6.43 ERA and 2.29 WHIP with six strikeouts over seven innings encompassing two appearances (one start).
MLB Betting Trends
The Yankees are 4-1 in their last five road games. New York is 5-0 in the last five Paxton starts.
The Mariners are 2-5 in their last seven Wednesday games. Seattle is 2-6 in its last eight home games.
Paxton has actually been far better at home this season than on the mound despite Yankee Stadium being a hitter's haven. But I'll push that aside here due to the fact Paxton will be highly motivated pitching against his former team and he'll feel comfortable in his old ballpark. Sheffield has a bright future, but he is raw right now and I don't like his chances against the powerful New York lineup. I'm taking the Yankees on the runline here.
