Yankees on a skid
New York is on a rare skid, as the Yankees have lost five of their last six after a 2-1 loss to the Dodgers yesterday. The Yanks are 84-47 on the season, 35-27 on the road and 73-53 with the over. New York has Domingo German getting the start today. He is 16-3 on the year with a 4.15 ERA.
C.C. Sabathia lasted just four innings in his start on Saturday, allowing both Los Angeles runs on five hits with seven strikeouts. He took the loss and fell to 5-8 on the year. The New York pen was strong, throwing four innings of 1-hit ball. At the plate, New York got its lone run on a solo home run from Aaron Judge, his 15th home run of the year. Gleyber Torres was the lone Yankee with multiple hits.
Los Angeles stays tough at home
The Dodgers have won four of their last five, all at home, following the 1-run win over the Yankees on Saturday. Los Angeles is 86-45 on the season, 52-17 at home and 64-62 with the under. The Dodgers have Clayton Kershaw getting the start today. He is 13-2 on the year with a 2.71 ERA.
Tony Gonsolin threw five innings and allowed one run on two hits to record his second win of the year on Saturday. Kenley Jansen got his 27th save of the season while striking out the side. At the plate, Justin Turner had a two-run home run in the third inning to drive in the pair of Los Angeles runs. Turner has 23 home runs on the season.
MLB Betting Trends
The Yankees are 4-0 in their last four road games against a left-handed starter. They are also 21-8 in their last 29 Game 3’s of a series.
The Dodgers are 44-9 in their last 53 home games against a right-handed starter and 6-1 in their last seven games against AL East opponents.
Kershaw has been great on the mound, as usual. The Dodgers have won his last seven starts and he has thrown at least six innings in each of those outings. At home, Kershaw is 9-0 with a 2.42 ERA. German has been on a bit of a slide the past month, but the Yankees have been giving him a lot of run support. He has a 5.82 ERA on the road this year. I don’t think New York is going to give him much run support today against Kershaw, so it could be a rough day for him.
MLB Prediction: Los Angeles Dodgers -175
