Angels drop three of four at Texas
Los Angeles lost 4-2 at the Rangers on Sunday afternoon as it fell for the third time in four games in the series. David Fletcher was 2-for-4 with a double and a run to help lead the offense. Shohei Ohtani finished 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run. Noe Ramirez suffered the loss in relief as he gave up three earned runs on three hits in one inning.
Pollock hits go-ahead homer
A.J. Pollock broke a tie with a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning Sunday at San Diego, giving the D-backs a 4-3 win and their third victory in the four-game series. He was 2-for-5 in the contest with a double along with the homer. David Peralta was also 2-for-5 with a solo home run. Paul Goldschmidt finished 1-for-3 with a pair of walks. Daniel Descalso was 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs. Jeff Mathis finished 3-for-4 with an RBI. Avery Bradley worked around two hits to pick up the win in relief, striking out two in an inning of work. Brad Boxberger earned his 28th save as he gave up one hit and struck out two over one inning.
Felix Pena (1-3, 4.35 ERA) will start today for the Angels, while Arizona will go with Patrick Corbin (10-4, 3.18).
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The under is 19-6-3 in the last 28 Angels interleague games. The under is 7-1 in Pena’s last eight starts on grass.
Arizona
The under is 6-2-1 in the last nine meetings. Arizona is 20-7 in its last 27 Tuesday games.
Prediction:
Pena has been impressive at times with the Angels, but is still very raw. Corbin has had a few blips this season, but mostly has been an outstanding starting pitcher for a first-place team. The Diamondbacks are a heavy favorite and this could turn into a rout if they can get to Pena early. I’m taking the runline bet here.
