Angels trying to heat up
The Los Angeles Angels are trying to get back on track, winning four of their last five games, all of which were at home. The Angels are 62-64 overall, 29-33 on the road and 63-56 with the over. Los Angeles has Dillon Peters getting the start tonight. He is 3-1 on the season with a 3.38 ERA.
The Angels are a respectable team at the plate, but have struggled on the mound. Los Angeles is putting up 5.06 runs per game while batting .254 as a team. When it comes to pitching, the Angels have a 5.08 team ERA and a 1.37 WHIP. Mike Trout is leading the team with 27 doubles, 41 home runs and 96 RBI. Albert Pujols is adding 14 doubles, 18 home runs and 70 RBI.
Rangers swept at home
Texas was swept at home by Minnesota this weekend, losing all four games of the series. The Rangers are 60-64 on the season, 35-26 at home and 63-57 with the under. Texas has Kolby Allard on the mound this evening. He is 1-0 on the season with a 4.50 ERA.
The Rangers are also strong at the plate, but struggling on the mound this year. Texas is averaging 5.10 runs per game this year while batting .250. The Rangers are second in the league in stolen bases with 94. On the mound, Texas has a 4.99 team ERA and a 1.45 team WHIP. Rougned Odor is leading the team with 22 doubles, 21 home runs and 66 RBI. Elvis Andrus is adding 23 doubles, 58 RBI and 25 stolen bases.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels are just 2-7 in their last nine road games and 1-6 in their last seven series openers.
Texas
The Rangers are 7-20 in their last 27 games following a loss, but 5-2 in their last seven games against a left-handed starter.
Prediction:
Peters has been steady for the Angels this year, appearing mostly in relief. He has been able to give the team six-plus innings in his last three starts. Allard has made just two starts this year, allowing five runs over 10 innings of work. Both starts have come on the road, but walks have been a problem for him. I think that lack of control can be a problem tonight. Los Angeles still has capable bats and arguably the best hitter in the league. I think Peters can handle this struggling Texas lineup while the Angels get to Allard.
MLB Prediction: Los Angeles Angels -115
