Angels rolling
The Angels are coming off a big sweep of the Padres in San Diego and they have won seven of their last nine overall. Los Angeles is now 62-60 overall and 29-30 on the road. Los Angeles is putting up 4.57 runs per game this season while allowing 4.24 per contest.
Taylor Cole gets the start for the Angels today. It will be just his second start of the year, though he has eight relief appearances as well. Cole has an 0-2 record with a 2.95 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP. Cole has racked up 22 strikeouts and five walks over 18.1 innings this season.
Rangers back in a slump
The Rangers have dropped three of their last four games, including a 6-4 loss at home to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday. Texas is now 53-69 overall and 26-37 at home. The Rangers have scored 4.80 runs per game this year while allowing 5.27 per contest.
Ariel Jurado gets the start for the Rangers tonight. He is making his fifth start of the season and comes into tonight with a 2-2 record, a 5.66 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP. Jurado has pitched a total of 20.2 innings this season and has eight strikeouts with eight walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels have won eight straight over a team with a losing record and their last four series openers.
Texas
The Rangers have lost six of their last eight Thursday games and 23 of their last 32 against a team with a winning record.
Prediction:
The Angels seem to be turning the corner a little bit right now. They are starting to win the games that they should and I think that will continue tonight. Texas is a team that has struggled most of the year and Jurado has been very poor on the mound. Cole has good numbers, but isn’t tested for long outings. Still, I think Cole will get plenty of run support and help lead the Angels to a win.
The Pick: Los Angeles Angels +105
