Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers, the Angels are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -160 to win, while the White Sox are listed with a money line of +140 to win. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 9 runs. The public betting for the contest currently has 69 percent going on Los Angeles at home. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
White Sox stun Houston
Chicago is coming off a surprising series win at home over the Houston Astros, winning the last two games of the series. The White Sox are 54-65 on the season, 24-34 on the road and 62-53 with the under. Chicago has Reynaldo Lopez on the mound tonight. He is 7-9 on the season with a 5.16 ERA.
The White Sox have a .255 batting average this season, yet average just 4.18 runs per game. On the mound, Chicago has a 4.85 team ERA with a 1.44 team WHIP. The Sox could see Yoan Moncada return today. He is listed as questionable due to his hamstring injury that has sidelined him for 15 games. Moncada has 20 home runs and 59 RBI this year. Jose Abreu is leading the way with 27 doubles, 24 home runs and 86 RBI.
Angels drop another series
Los Angeles is coming off a series loss at home to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Angels have lost 10 of their last 13 games coming into today. Los Angeles is 59-63 overall, 30-30 at home and 59-56 with the over. The Angels have Andrew Heaney on the mound tonight. He is 1-3 on the season with a 4.89 ERA.
The Angels are putting up 5.02 runs per game this season while batting .253 as a team. On the mound, Los Angeles has a 5.07 team ERA with a 1.38 team WHIP. Mike Trout is leading the team with 27 doubles, 39 home runs and 92 RBI while Albert Pujols has 14 doubles, 18 home runs and 70 RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox have won six straight games against a left-handed starter and four of their last five road games.
Los Angeles
The Angels are just 3-9 in their last 12 home games and 3-7 in their last 10 games against a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
Lopez has been pitching well over the last six weeks, dropping his ERA from 6.34 to 5.16. He has a 3.41 ERA over July and a 2.31 ERA in August. Heaney has had a nice few outings as of late, but he doesn’t get very deep into games. His ERA at home is 5.13 this year. While neither team is terribly reliable, the White Sox have been the better team in recent weeks and I don’t like the way the Angels are trending.
MLB Prediction: Chicago White Sox +140
