Chacin mows down Cubs
Milwaukee won via shutout for a third straight time over Chicago on Tuesday with a 7-0 victory, the previous two coming at home back in June. Jhoulys Chacin was outstanding for the Brewers as he threw seven innings of three-hit ball with 10 strikeouts and two walks. Lorenzo Cain helped pace the offense by going 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Jesus Aguilar finished 2-for-4 with a walk and three runs. Ryan Braun ended the day by going 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs. Erik Kratz was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.
Quintana struggles again
Cubs lefty Jose Quintana saw his ERA rise to 4.46 yesterday as he surrendered five earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts and one walk over five innings to take the loss. Ben Zobrist went 1-for-3 with a double, while Ian Happ finished 1-for-2 with a double and a walk. Javier Baez went 1-for-4 with a double.
Junior Guerra (6-7, 3.40 ERA) draws the start today for Milwaukee, while Chicago turns to Kyle Hendricks (8-9, 4.02).
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The over is 7-2 in the last nine Brewers games overall. Milwaukee is 3-7 in the last 10 meetings.
Chicago
The under is 19-3 in the last 22 meetings. Chicago is 18-9 in its last 27 home games.
Prediction:
The Brewers have had the Cubs’ number for a few games now and have a couple more days to try and pull even in the NL Central standings. What stands in their way is Hendricks, who has pitched better as of late and has had a little more luck on his side than he did earlier in the season. Guerra has been good all year, but I’ve been waiting for regression on him. Chicago’s offense has to score sometime against Milwaukee, so why not today en route to a win?
