Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers, the Blue Jays are favored at home today, as they are getting odds of -125 to prevail. The Rays are listed with a money line of +115 to win, while the over/under total has been set at 8.5 runs. The public betting for this game currently has 88 percent going on Toronto at home. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Rays take first two
The Rays opened the series on Friday with a dominant 7-0 win over Toronto and followed it up with a 3-1 victory on Saturday. Tampa is now 60-57 overall and 26-33 on the road. Tampa is putting up 4.23 runs per game this season while allowing 4.15 per contest.
Tampa will go with another reliever to start today as Tyler Glasgow takes the mound. He is making his third start and 37th appearance of the year. Glasgow carries a 4.14 ERA with a 1.37 WHIP. He has amassed 86 strikeouts and 35 walks over 63.0 innings of work.
Blue Jays drop another
Toronto had a better pitching effort on Saturday, allowing just three runs, but the Blue Jays bats were largely silent in the loss. They have lost five of their last six coming into Sunday. Toronto is now 52-64 overall and 28-32 at home. Toronto is putting up 4.51 runs per game on offense while allowing 5.13 per game.
Marcus Stroman gets the start for Toronto this evening. He is making his 17th start of the season for the Jays and has a 4-8 record with a 5.20 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP. Stroman has pitched 91.2 innings this year and has 72 strikeouts with 33 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Tampa
The Rays are just 9-20 in their last 29 road games and 7-18 in their last 25 games against a right-handed starter.
Toronto
The Blue Jays are just 1-7 in their last eight at home and 1-5 in their last six against a winning team.
Prediction:
The Rays have looked good in this series and are trying to get some momentum for the last quarter of the season. Stroman had a very surprising outing against Boston earlier this week, pitching seven innings while allowing just two hits and no earned runs. Still, those numbers aren’t anything like what he has been doing all year. I think Tampa can find some runs off him while their pitching continues to silence the Jays.
The Pick: Tampa Bay Rays +115
