McMahon hits walk-off homer
Colorado was shut down for eight innings Saturday, but a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning by Ryan McMahon sent the hosts to a 3-2 victory over the Dodgers. It was his only hit in four at-bats and he was only in the lineup due to a shoulder injury suffered by star third baseman Nolan Arenado, who is day-to-day. Carlos Gonzalez ended the game 2-for-3 with a walk. Gerardo Parra also finished 2-for-3. Trevor Story went 1-for-4 with a run. Bryan Shaw pitched a scoreless inning of relief with one walk to earn the win.
Puig homers in defeat
Justin Turner helped pace the Los Angeles offense yesterday as he finished 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI in yesterday’s loss. Yasiel Puig ended the game 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Manny Machado finished 1-for-4 with a double and a run. J.T. Chargois took the loss as he gave up two earned runs on one hit over one-third of an inning.
Rich Hill (5-4, 3.62 ERA) gets the start for the Dodgers today, while the Rockies will go with Chad Bettis (5-2, 5.67).
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 6-2 in their last eight meetings at Colorado. Los Angeles is 9-3 in its last 12 Sunday games.
Colorado
The Rockies are 19-7 in their last 26 home games. Colorado is 3-7 in its last 10 home games.
Prediction:
Bettis has benefited from a lot of run support, but he is coming off a poor start and is overall a very hittable pitcher. Hill is a veteran and can navigate the ins and outs of Coors Field, although he might rely less on his curveball today. I’m betting on the offense more likely to have a big day today and that is the Dodgers. Check on the status of Arenado before placing a bet.
