Cubs drop another

Chicago had another poor showing on the road on Saturday, suffering a 10-1 loss to the Reds for back-to-back losses. The Cubs are 63-54 on the season, 22-35 on the road and 59-54 with the under. Chicago has Jon Lester on the mound today. He is 9-8 on the season with a 4.39 ERA.

The Cubs were held to a single run in the ninth inning on Saturday, as they trailed from the start. Kyle Hendricks was beat up for seven runs over 2.2 innings to fall to 8-9 on the season. All three Chicago pitchers gave up runs in their outing. At the plate, Kyle Schwarber drove in the lone run for the Cubs on a solo home run. He was one of three players with two hits.

Reds pushing for .500

The Cincinnati Reds have won five of their last six games thanks to the 10-1 win over the Cubs last night. Cincinnati is 56-59 on the season, 33-27 at home and 67-45 with the under. The Reds have Luis Castillo on the mound today. He is 11-4 on the season with a 2.63 ERA.

Sonny Gray had another strong start on Saturday, going six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts to improve to 7-6 on the year. Sal Romano pitched the final three innings to record his second save of the year. At the plate, Aristides Aquino continued his great series by hitting three solo home runs. Eugenio Suarez added his 32nd home run of the season while Nick Senzel and Kyle Farmer also went deep in the win.

MLB Betting Trends

The Cubs are 9-22 in their last 31 road games, but 6-2 in Lester’s last eight Sunday starts.

The Reds are 5-1 in their last six home games, but just 3-10 in their last 13 Game 4’s of a series.

The Cubs just aren’t a good team away from Wrigley Field and they now have to face Cincinnati’s ace. Castillo has been pretty strong throughout the year, especially at home. He is 7-3 in Cincy with a 2.22 ERA. He also has a 2.95 ERA over three starts against the Cubs. Lester was just shelled by the Athletics at home and has given up 16 runs over his last nine innings on the mound. You just can’t trust the Cubs on the road and the pitching matchup certainly doesn’t favor them today.

MLB Prediction: Cincinnati Reds -130
