Yankees end win streak
The New York Yankees had their nine-game win streak come to an end on Friday night in an 8-2 loss to the Blue Jays. New York is 77-39 overall, 34-31 on the road and 65-47 with the over. The Yankees have Chad Green on the mound today. He is 2-3 on the season with a 4.93 ERA.
The Yankees stranded six baserunners on Friday as they scored their two runs on seven hits. Mike Tauchman and Mike Ford each had solo home runs for the two Yankees runs. Tauchman finished with two hits, alongside DJ LeMahieu. On the mound, J.A. Happ struggled against his former team, giving up six runs over five innings to fall to 9-7 on the season.
Jays bounce back
Toronto had lost four of its last six, but were able to pick up a nice win on Friday night. The Jays are 48-71 on the season, 21-35 at home and 58-57 with the under. Toronto has Jacob Waguespack on the mound today. He is 3-1 on the season with a 4.00 ERA.
The Blue Jays put up four home runs on Friday night. Teoscar Hernandez had two of the four home runs and drove in three runs while Danny Jansen had a three-run home run and Randal Grichuk had a two-run shot. Sean Reid-Foley got the win on the mound by allowing just one run over five innings, striking out five. He improved to 2-2 on the season with the win.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Yankees have won five of their last six road games and 42 of their last 55 division games.
Toronto
The Blue Jays are 5-2 in their last seven Saturday games and 7-1 in their last eight after scoring five runs or more in their previous game.
Prediction:
Green has limited starts this year, mostly appearing in relief situations. In 6.2 innings of work against the Yankees, he has a 2.70 ERA. Waguespack has five starts this year, but hasn’t faced the Yankees this season. He has given up just one run over his last 12 innings. I like the way the Jays have been playing in recent weeks. Their hitting has been improved and they are much more competitive. With the Yankees turning to a reliever today, I think Toronto can jump out on him and be able to pick up another win at home today.
MLB Prediction: Toronto Blue Jays +150
