Twins fall in Cleveland
The Twins had a chance to make up some ground in the AL Central this week, but lost three of four to the Indians in Cleveland. Minnesota is 53-61 overall and 20-37 on the road. The Twins are putting up 4.42 runs per game this season while allowing 4.68 per contest on defense.
Ervin Santana is getting his fourth start of the season tonight. His first three have been shaky as he has pitched a total of 14.2 innings and has allowed 10 earned runs and four home runs. He has a 6.14 ERA with a 1.64 WHIP and also has nine strikeouts with four walks.
Tigers lose six straight
The Tigers are coming off a very pool West Coast road trip where they lost six games to the Athletics and Angels. They were shutout three times and scored just eight runs total in the six games. Detroit is now 47-68 overall and 29-27 at home. The Tigers are scoring 3.76 runs per game on offense while allowing 4.63 per contest on the mound.
The Tigers go with Jordan Zimmerman tonight. He has started 15 games this season and has a 4-4 record with a 4.31 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. Zimmerman has pitched a total of 77.1 innings this year and has 73 strikeouts with 16 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Minnesota
The Twins have won six straight against a team with a losing record. They also have won 11 of Santana’s last 16 starts.
Detroit
The Tigers are 8-22 in their last 30 games following a loss and they have lost seven of their last eight after a day off.
Prediction:
Zimmerman has been shaky as of late and not getting any run support. He has given up at least four runs in three of his last four starts. Santana hasn’t been great, but hasn’t been a complete dumpster fire. The Twins give him a quick hook and they have still won all three of his starts. Given how poor Detroit has been at the plate, I think the Twins should win. I look for Santana to pitch okay and then the bullpen lock up the Detroit hitters.
The Pick: Minnesota Twins -115
