Rockies drop two of three at home
After winning the first game of its three-game home series against the Pirates, Colorado fell back-to-back days including yesterday’s 4-3 defeat. Charlie Blackmon finished 2-for-5 in the loss, while David Dahl was 1-for-4 with a 2-run homer and a walk. Trevor Story went 2-for-4 with a double. Ryan McMahon ended the game 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. German Marquez took the loss as he allowed three earned runs on 10 hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks over six innings.
Dodgers give up late run in loss at A’s
Los Angeles tied last night game at Oakland in the seventh inning, but proceeded to give up the go-ahead run in the eighth in a 3-2 defeat. Yasmani Grandal finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk. Cody Bellinger was 2-for-4 with a run. J.T. Chargois took the loss in relief as he gave up one earned run on two hits over 1 1/3 innings.
Ross Stripling (8-3, 2.68 ERA) will get the start for the Dodgers today, while the Rockies turn to Tyler Anderson (6-4, 4.05).
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 24-11 in their last 35 road games. The under is 7-1 in Stripling’s last eight road starts.
Colorado
The Rockies are 10-3 in their last 13 home games. Colorado is 2-6 in its last eight games overall.
Prediction:
The Dodgers trail the D-backs by a half-game in the NL West standings, while the Rockies sit three games back. Both teams are also in the thick of the Wild Card hunt if a division title isn’t going to happen. Needless to say, these are an important four games. Colorado has been strong at home lately and remain at home, while LA had to travel to get to Denver. I’m going to take a shot on the hosts in this spot.
