Phillies’ Pivetta allows two runs against Marlins
Nick Pivetta limited the Marlins to two runs over six innings, striking out seven, in a no-decision Thursday. Pivetta gave up just four hits without issuing a walk on the evening, but two of those hits came in the fourth, a J.T. Realmuto single followed by a Justin Bour two-run homer. The Phillies came back to win the game but not in time to get Pivetta the victory. His 4.75 ERA and 1.29 WHIP don’t scream fantasy relevance, but the 25-year-old has 141 strikeouts in 113 2/3 innings and pitches for a good team.
Diamondbacks’ Greinke pitches well in loss to Giants
Zack Greinke yielded two runs on four hits over six innings in Thursday’s loss to the Giants. Greinke struck out five and walked one on the evening. He pitched well enough for the win, but came up empty despite allowing just a solo home run to Evan Longoria in the first inning and an RBI single to opposing number Madison Bumgarner in the fifth. Regardless of the sour final result, this outing ended as Greinke’s fourth consecutive quality start. He had lasted at least seven innings in each of the three earlier outings. He’ll look to keep on trucking in a home date with the Phillies next time out. The veteran right-hander will carry a 2.96 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 148/25 K/BB ratio (142 2/3 innings) into that affair.
