Dodgers’ Hill allows two runs over six innings in no-decision
Rich Hill allowed two runs over six innings with a walk and four strikeouts in a no decision against the Brewers on Wednesday. Things got off to an inauspicious start for Hill, as he gave up a triple to Lorenzo Cain to begin the game that ostensibly turned into a homer after Brian Dozier’s throwing error allowed Cain to score. He also allowed Cain to score in the third on a wild pitch. Outside of those two plays, it was smooth sailing for the left-hander, who has been on a role as of late. He’s allowed a total of two earned runs in his last three starts, and that’s seen Hill’s ERA lower to 3.63 from the 4.26 it stood at before that run. He’ll have a fun match-up on Tuesday when he faces the A’s.
A’s Manaea holds Blue Jays in check in victory
Sean Manaea spun six-plus innings of one-run ball in the Athletics’ 8-3 victory over the Blue Jays on Wednesday. The A’s offense provided Manaea with plenty of cushion in this one, but the left-hander didn’t really need it. He yielded five hits and two walks on the day, with the only run charged to him coming after he had been pulled following a leadoff single in the seventh. The five strikeouts tie a high for Manaea over his last seven starts, as he’s been a disappointment in the punchout department this season. The southpaw gets the Dodgers next.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers have won four of Hill’s last five starts.
Oakland
The A’s are 6-1 in their last seven interleague home games.
Prediction:
I see a ton of value in Oakland tonight. The A’s are 14-2 in their last 16 home games, are 36-15 in their last 51 games overall and are 8-2 in Manaea’s last 10 starts. Meanwhile, the Dodgers are just 1-10 in their last 11 games played at the Oakland Coliseum and are 2-7 in their last nine games versus the A’s overall.
The Pick: Oakland A’s +110
