Angels lose fifth straight
Los Angeles has lost five straight games coming into tonight after a 7-4 loss to the Reds on Monday night. Los Angeles is 56-58 on the season, 27-30 on the road and 54-53 with the under. The Angels have Jose Suarez on the mound today. He is 2-2 on the season with a 5.66 ERA.
The Angels fell behind 5-0 in the first inning on Monday and couldn’t put up enough of a rally. They finished the game with five hits. Mike Trout had his 37th home run of the season in the loss while Brian Goodwin and Luis Rengifo also homered in the loss. Taylor Cole took the loss on the mound, giving up the five runs in the first inning to fall to 1-3 on the year.
Reds warming up
The Reds took the series opener on Monday and they have won three of their last four and seven of their last 10 coming into tonight. Cincinnati is 53-58 overall, 30-26 at home and 66-42 with the under. Anthony DeSclafani is taking the mound today. He is 6-6 on the season with a 4.07 ERA.
The Reds started fast on Monday and rode their hitting to the win. The five runs in the first came on two doubles and two singles. Nick Senzel drove in two runs while Jesse Winker had a hit and scored two runs in the victory. Luis Castillo got the victory on the mound, improving to 11-4 on the year. He pitched seven innings and allowed just two earned runs while striking out 13. Raisel Iglesias recorded the final out in the ninth to earn his 22nd save of the year.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels have won seven straight Tuesday games, but have lost four straight road games.
Cincinnati
The Reds have won five of their last six at home and five of their last seven against AL West opponents.
Prediction:
Suarez is tasked with trying to stop the bleeding for Los Angeles. He hasn’t had a lot of success on the mound this year, failing to get through five innings in his last five starts while giving up at least two runs in every outing. DeSclafani hasn’t gotten real deep into games either, but has managed to take limited damage along the way. He has a 3.40 ERA at home this year over 10 starts and I think he will take advantage of a struggling Angels lineup today.
MLB Prediction: Cincinnati Reds -140
