St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin
Paul DeJong hit his 19th home run of the season in a loss to the Athletics on Sunday. DeJong sat back on a Tanner Roark curveball in the fourth inning and crushed it out to left to give the Cardinals a fleeting lead. The homer was his 19th of the season, tying last year’s mark and six shy of the career-best 25 he hit in his rookie year in 2017. The first-time All-Star has been streaky this year, but he’s now got six hits in his last 12 at-bats to leave his line at .255/.334/.463 through 108 games.
Los Angeles Dodgers Fantasy Spin
Max Muncy had a huge game Sunday, finishing 4-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored — including a walk-off, two-run double — as the Dodgers came back to edge the Padres 11-10. Muncy started his monster offensive day with a solo home run in the second inning, turning on a high fastball from Padres phenom Chris Paddack for his 27th homer of the year. He led off the fourth inning with a double and came around to score, and also singled and scored in the eighth. That would have been a good day in itself, but he made it one to remember when he pulled a Kirby Yates offering into the right field corner with two runners on and one out in the bottom of the ninth. The winning run raced around to score, and his teammates mobbed Muncy on the infield. Sunday was a highlight, but the 28-year-old is having a terrific offensive season in total, batting .265/.371/.528 with 27 homers, 74 RBI and 75 runs scored in 110 games.
