Phillies stumble against White Sox

Philadelphia lost a 10-5 home decision Sunday afternoon versus Chicago to drop to 58-53 overall and 34-26 at home. Corey Dickerson helped lead the Phillies offense as he finished 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Scott Kingery went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. J.T. Realmuto was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run. Drew Smyly took the loss as he allowed five earned runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over five innings. Vince Velasquez draws the start tonight as he enters with a 3-6 record, 4.40 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 85 strikeouts over 71 2/3 innings.

D-backs topple Nats

Arizona downed visiting Washington for a second straight day Sunday afternoon as it posted a 7-5 victory. A two-run single by Adam Jones in the bottom of the seventh inning provided the difference. Jones finished 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and four RBIs to pace the Diamondbacks offense. Ketel Marte went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Christian Walker was 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs. Yoshihisa Hirano picked up the win in relief as he allowed one earned run on two hits with two strikeouts and one walk over one inning of work. Archie Bradley allowed one hit over two scoreless frames to notch his second save of the season. Merrill Kelly gets the start tonight as he comes in with a 7-11 record, 4.52 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 100 strikeouts over 125 1/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

The Phillies are 5-1 in their last six road games. Philadelphia is 5-14 in the last 19 Velasquez road starts.

The Diamondbacks are 0-6 in the last six Kelly starts. Arizona is 12-4 in the last 16 meetings.

The last time we saw Velasquez, he was throwing out a runner at the plate and making a diving catch from left field in a 15-inning home loss against Chicago. He has been inconsistent on the mound, however, and I don't like his chances against a red-hot offense. Kelly has also been inconsistent and poor lately, but he also has spun some gems this season. I like the hosts tonight as Philly had to travel in, while Arizona remained in the comforts of its own homes.
