Jay paces White Sox offense
Chicago lost a 3-2 decision Saturday night at Philadelphia to drop to 47-61 overall and 20-33 on the road. Jon Jay led the White Sox offense as he went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Yolmer Sanchez finished 1-for-4 with an RBI. Leury Garcia ended the game 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Ross Detwiler took the loss as he allowed two earned runs on three hits with six strikeouts and one walk over 5 2/3 innings. Philadelphia earned a 3-2 home victory Saturday night over Chicago to improve to 58-52 overall and 34-25 at home. Aaron Nola spun a gem on the mound as he allowed one earned run on three hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks over seven innings. Nick Pivetta picked up his first save of the season as he allowed one unearned runs on two hits with four strikeouts and no walks over two innings. Bryce Harper and Rhys Hoskins helped lead the offense as they both finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run plus a walk. Adam Haseley went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox are 8-21 in their last 29 road games. Chicago is 1-7 in its last eight games versus the NL East.
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 5-0 in their last five Sunday games. Philadelphia is 6-1 in its last seven interleague games.
Prediction:
Smyly has looked like a different pitcher in his first two starts with the Phillies, but I like to target the White Sox against left-handed starting pitching. With the Phillies offense not fully clicking right now and Lopez pitching better as of late, I’m going to take a shot on the underdog here. It’s been a pair of close games so far in the series and an extra play or two today could win the White Sox the series.
