Abreu provides game-winning RBI single
An RBI single by Jose Abreu in the top of the 15th inning Friday night sent Chicago to a 4-3 victory at Philadelphia. Abreu finished the contest 2-for-6 with a home run, a walk and three RBIs. Tim Anderson went 2-for-6 with a double, a walk and a run scored. Eloy Jimenez ended the game 2-for-7 with a double and a run. Josh Osich picked up the win in relief as he struck out two in two perfect innings. Ross Detwiler will start tonight as he enters with a 1-1 record, 6.35 ERA and 1.68 WHIP with 12 strikeouts over 22 2/3 innings of work.
Quinn takes loss for Phillies
Philadelphia was forced to turn to outfielder Roman Quinn in extra innings Friday night at home in a 4-3 15-inning loss against Chicago, while pitcher Vincent Velasquez was forced to play left field and had an outfield assist plus a diving catch. Quinn took the loss as he gave up one earned run on three hits with no strikeouts and three walks over two innings pitched. Quinn helped pace the offense as he finished 3-for-6 with a solo home run, two stolen base, a walk and two runs scored. Jean Segura ended the game 2-for-5 with two walks, a run and an RBI. Rhys Hoskins ended the game 1-for-5 with a double plus two walks. Aaron Nola gets the start tonight for the Phillies as he comes in with a 9-2 record, 3.72 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 153 strikeouts over 153 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox are 7-22 in their last 29 interleague road games. Chicago is 2-5 in its last seven games versus the NL East.
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 36-16 in the last 52 Nola starts. Philadelphia is 0-6 in its last six Saturday games.
Prediction:
While the White Sox snuck one out last night, don’t expect the same here. With both bullpens taxed, I expect a gem out of Nola as Chicago struggles against good right-handed pitching. Meanwhile, Detwiler is a below average arm and the Phillies should get to him early and often. He might need to stay in longer than he normally would to help save the bullpen, but once those arms are in many are coming in tired. Go with the hosts on the runline.
