Marlins rained out in Atlanta
Miami lost both games in its abbreviated two-game series at the Braves, falling 11-6 on Tuesday before yesterday’s game was postponed due to rain. Brian Anderson helped pace the offense by going 2-for-4 with a walk. J.T. Realmuto was 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk. Miguel Rojas finished 1-for-4 and scored two runs. J.T. Riddle ended the game 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Magneuris Sierra was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Dan Straily suffered the loss as he was shelled four eight runs (five earned) on 11 hits with four strikeouts and one walk over 3 2/3 innings.
Arrieta pitches Phillies to win
Philadelphia starting pitcher Jake Arrieta was outstanding Tuesday as he guided his squad to a 3-1 win at the Red Sox. Arrieta gave up one earned run on six hits with seven strikeouts and no walks over seven innings. Seranthony Dominguez allowed a walk and struck out two in one inning of work to earn his 11th save. Rhys Hoskins helped pace the offense as he went 1-for-3 with a double, two walks and a run. Carlos Santana finished 2-for-5 with an RBI. Maikel Franco ended the game 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs. Roman Quinn was 3-for-5 with a double.
Pablo Lopez (2-2, 5.34 ERA) gets the start today for Miami, while Nick Pivetta (6-9, 4.85) will take the mound for the Phillies.
MLB Betting Trends
Miami
The Marlins are 4-23 in their last 27 Thursday games. The over is 12-4 in the last 16 Miami road games.
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 8-2 in their last 10 home games. The under is 5-2-1 in the last eight Philadelphia games on Thursdays.
Prediction:
After losing three in a row to complete a four-game series at the Reds, a 13-inning affair again ended in a loss in the opener at Boston. But Philly bounced back two days ago and after an important day of rest, it gets a Marlins squad that is 3-6 in its last nine games. Lopez has hit a rough patch in his first go-around in MLB. While Pivetta has had his own struggles, he’s also dealt with some bad luck. I like Pivetta plus the ability of the Phillies offense to get to Lopez enough to place a bet on the hosts today.
