Rockies vs. Cardinals Prediction

Colorado Rockies vs. St. Louis Cardinals 8/2/18, Prediction & Odds

The St. Louis Cardinals doubled up the visiting Colorado Rockies last night to win for the second time in three days in the series. Will St. Louis win today to take the series or can Colorado salvage a split?

Public Betting Information

According to oddsmakers, the Cardinals are a -146 favorite to win on the moneyline. The Rockies are a +136 underdog, while the total is set at 8.5 runs. As of Thursday morning, 62 percent of public bets are being placed on host St. Louis. Check out our MLB Public Betting Page for the latest info.

Three players have three-hit nights for Cards

Yadier Molina helped lead St. Louis to a 6-3 win last night over Colorado as he finished 3-for-5 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Marcell Ozuna was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Harrison Bader ended the game 3-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and two runs. Austin Gomber earned the win as he allowed a walk with two strikeouts in an inning of work.

Arenado reaches base three times

Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI in last night's loss. Trevor Story was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Kyle Freeland surrendered three earned runs on nine hits with five strikeouts and three walks over 5 1/3 innings to take the loss.

Antonio Senzatela (4-3, 5.01 ERA) gets the start today for Colorado, while St. Louis counters with Miles Mikolas (11-3, 2.83).

MLB Betting Trends

The Rockies are 20-7 in their last 27 games overall. The under is 5-3-1 in the last nine Colorado games overall.

St. Louis

The over is 8-3 in the last 11 Cardinals home games. St. Louis is 36-16 in the last 52 meetings.

Mikolas has enjoyed a very solid season despite the up-and-down nature of the Cardinals as a whole. With the struggles of Senzatela coupled with a St. Louis lineup that has several hot hitters at the moment, I think the desperate Cards get the job done here.
