Royals take opener
The Royals were able to grab the first game in the series on Tuesday, 4-2. Kansas City is now 33-73 overall and 18-36 on the road. The Royals are putting up 3.66 runs per game on offense this season while allowing 5.49 per contest.
Jakob Junis gets the start for the Royals this evening. He is making his 20th start of the season and has a 5-11 record with a 5.06 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP. Junis has pitched 110.1 innings this year and has 101 strikeouts with 32 walks.
White Sox fall again
The White Sox suffered the 4-2 loss to Kansas City on Tuesday and have lost five of their last six games. Chicago is now 37-69 overall and 20-32 at home. The White Sox are putting up 4.08 runs per game this season while allowing 5.42 per contest.
Dylan Covey gets the start for the White Sox this evening. He is making his 14th start of the season on Wednesday and he comes into the night with a 4-6 record, a 5.40 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP. Covey has pitched 68.1 innings this year and has 50 strikeouts with 30 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Kansas City
The Royals have lost eight of Junis’ last nine starts overall and four of his last five road starts. However, they have won five of their last seven division games.
Chicago
The White Sox have won four of their last five home games against a right-handed starts and four of Covey’s last five home starts against a losing team.
Prediction:
Junis was rocked by the White Sox earlier this year, giving up six runs in 5.2 innings. Covey gave up four runs in six innings to the Royals in a start this year as well. While that isn’t good either, I think Covey has been strong at home. He has a 3.54 ERA at home compared to a 6.69 one on the road. Look for Covey to work through this struggling KC lineup tonight and lead the Sox to a win.
The Pick: Chicago White Sox -120
