Chicago Cubs Fantasy Spin
Kyle Schwarber went 3-for-3 with a pair of home runs, a career-high seven RBI and four runs scored to help the Cubs stave off a potential three-game series sweep at the hands of the Brewers with an 11-4 victory on Sunday. Schwarber put the Cubs on the board with a towering grand slam off Brewers starter Zach Davies in the second inning and followed it up with a three-run, opposite-field homer in the fourth. He’s gone deep a whopping six times in just 15 games since the All-Star break and is now up to 24 round-trippers on the season. It was the seventh multi-homer effort of his career and the first time he’s accomplished the impressive feat since April 24, 2018. He also singled and scored a run in the sixth. The 26-year-old’s prodigious power production established a lofty realistic fantasy floor moving forward. However, he needs to improve upon his rather pedestrian .228/.317/.484 triple-slash line this season if he’s ever going to blossom into the four-category fantasy superstar fantasy owners envisioned earlier in his career. Even if he fails live up to those potentially unrealistic expectations, he’s always going to be worthy of a roster spot in standard mixed leagues.
St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin
Dexter Fowler (foot) hit a pinch-hit home run in the Cardinals’ loss to the Astros on Sunday. Fowler was held out of the starting lineup for a second straight day after fouling a ball off his right foot Friday. The Cardinals are off on Monday and he should be a full-go for Tuesday’s series opener versus the Cubs.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The Cubs are 2-5 in their last seven games overall and just 8-20 in their last 28 road games.
St. Louis
The Cardinals have won four straight starts by Adam Wainwright and are 12-4 in their last 16 games overall.
Prediction:
The under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings between these two teams at Busch Stadium, is 4-0-1 in Wainwright’s last five home starts versus the Cubs and 8-3-1 in his last 12 outings versus Chicago overall. The under is also 6-2-1 in Wainwright’s last nine starts at Busch Stadium, where he has been stellar all season. Finally, the under is 5-2-1 in the Cubs’ last eight road games, where Chicago has struggled for roughly a month.
MLB Prediction: Cubs/Cardinals UNDER 8.5
