Rockies hold off A's to complete sweep

After opening up a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning Sunday afternoon, host Colorado withstood a rally attempt by Oakland to secure a 3-2 victory and a three-game series sweep at Coors Field. Charlie Blackmon went 2-for-4 from the leadoff spot, while Trevor Story was 2-for-4 with a run. Ryan McMahon finished 2-for-4 with two doubles, a run and an RBI. Tom Murphy was 1-for-4 with a 2-run homer. German Marquez earned the win as he allowed two earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and one walk over 7 2/3 innings.

Cardinals fall on Sunday Night Baseball

St. Louis was unable to complete a three-game home sweep against the Cubs Sunday night as it fell 5-2. John Gant suffered the loss as he surrendered three runs (two earned) on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks over 4 1/3 innings. Marcell Ozuna provided the offense for the Cards as he was 1-for-4 with a 2-run homer. Yairo Munoz finished 1-for-2 with a double and a walk.

Tyler Anderson (6-3, 3.57 ERA) will start today for Colorado, while St. Louis turns to Carlos Martinez (6-6, 3.39).

MLB Betting Trends

The Rockies are 19-7 in their last 26 games overall. Colorado is 7-3 in its last 10 road games.

St. Louis

The over is 10-5 in the last 14 Cardinals games following a loss. St. Louis is 3-7 in its last 10 home games.

The Rockies have played fantastic baseball lately and Anderson has had a very consistent season even while pitching half the time at Coors Field. Martinez is prone to bouts where he can't harness his stuff and Colorado has the bats to take advantage. I'm going with Colorado to notch the upset in this spot.
