O’s set MLB home run record
Baltimore set an MLB record with multiple home runs in its 10th straight game Saturday night in an 8-7 victory at LA. Pedro Severino helped lead the Orioles to the win as he finished 4-for-5 with a home run, a stolen base and four RBIs. Jonathan Villar ended the game 3-for-3 with a homer, a walk and two runs scored. Hanser Alberto was 2-for-5 with a run and two RBIs. Richard Bleier threw a perfect inning of relief with one strikeout to pick up the win. Mychal Givens earned the save as he allowed one earned run on one hit with two strikeouts and two walks over 1 1/3 innings. Dylan Bundy gets the start today as he enters with a 5-11 record, 5.14 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with 102 strikeouts over 98 innings pitched.
Fletcher has four-hit day
Los Angeles lost a third straight day to Baltimore at home Saturday night by a count of 8-7. David Fletcher led the Angels offense as he ended the contest 4-for-5 with two doubles, one run and three RBIs. Mike Trout finished 1-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Albert Pujols went 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Shohei Ohtani was 1-for-4 with a solo home run plus a walk. Ty Buttrey took the loss as he gave up two earned runs on two hits with no strikeouts or walks over one-third of an inning. Felix Pena draws the start today for LA as he comes in with an 8-3 record, 4.82 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 96 strikeouts over 89 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Baltimore
The Orioles are 86-203 in their last 289 games. Baltimore is 5-11 in the last 16 Bundy road starts.
Los Angeles
The Angels are 0-5 in their last five home games. Los Angeles is 0-4 in the last four meetings.
Prediction:
This hasn’t been the way LA wanted the series to go, with two narrow losses plus a blowout loss sandwiched in between. Pena has had a couple duds this season, but overall he’s been a serviceable starting pitcher. I think the only right play is to fade Baltimore as it’s still a poor team despite their recent surge and the home run streak. Bundy is an inconsistent pitcher coming off a strong road start, so he’s probably due for a dud. Take LA to salvage a game.
