According to oddsmakers, the Angels are favored tonight, as they are getting odds of -140 to win, while the Mariners are getting odds of +130 to prevail. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 8.5 runs. The public betting for this game currently has 70 percent going on Seattle on the road. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Mariners holding steady
The Mariners are coming off a 3-2 win over the Giants on Wednesday, but they have alternated wins and losses over their last six games. Seattle is 61-41 overall and 27-22 on the road. The Mariners are putting up 4.21 runs per game on offense while allowing 4.20 per contest.
Wade LeBlanc will take the mound for the Mariners this evening. He has started 15 games this year and has a 6-1 record with a 3.44 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. LeBlanc has pitched 96.2 innings this season and has 76 strikeouts with 19 walks.
Angels back to .500
After losing two at home to the White Sox, the Angels bounced back and salvaged a split of the 4-game series to get back to the .500 mark. Los Angeles is now 52-52 overall and 27-27 at home. The Angels are scoring 4.50 runs per game this season while allowing 4.19 per contest.
Andrew Heaney is taking the mound for the Angels tonight. He comes into the game with a 6-6 record over 18 starts. Heaney has a 3.66 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP. Over 108.1 innings of work, Heaney has 106 strikeouts with 32 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Seattle
The Mariners have lost their last four road games and their last six games after a win. However, they have won 18 of LeBlanc’s last 22 starts on grass.
Los Angeles
The Angels are just 6-20 in their last 26 against a left-handed starter, but they have won Heaney’s last four home starts.
Prediction:
Seattle has been very good this season at winning close games. To have nearly an even runs for/runs against total and be 20 games over .500 says a lot. Tonight they have one of their best arms on the mound and he is a left, which has been an issue for Los Angeles this year. Heaney is a good pitcher in his own right, but I like Seattle’s ability to grind out wins better than LA’s. I think the Angels will struggle with LeBlanc and that opens the door for another close Seattle win.
The Pick: Seattle Mariners +130
