Pirates doubled up at Cards
Pittsburgh lost its fifth straight game Thursday afternoon at home versus St. Louis by a score of 6-3 to drop to 46-56 overall and 23-27 at home. Starling Marte helped lead the Pirates offense as he went 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Bryan Reynolds finished 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Jacob Stallings went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Joe Musgrove suffered the loss as he gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits with two strikeouts and one walk over five innings. Dario Agrazal will start today for Pittsburgh as he enters with a 2-0 start, 2.25 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 12 strikeouts over 28 innings.
deGrom guides Mets to win
New York completed its home series with San Diego Thursday afternoon with a 4-0 victory. Jacob deGrom guided the way as he threw seven shutout innings with four hits allowed, nine strikeouts and one walk. Todd Frazier helped lead the offense as he finished 2-for-3 with two walks, a run scored and two RBIs. Michael Conforto went 2-for-4 with an RBI. J.D. Davis ended the contest 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run. Zack Wheeler gets the start tonight for the Mets as he comes in with a 6-6 record, 4.69 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 130 strikeouts over 119 innings pitched.
MLB Betting Trends
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are 1-7 in their last eight road games. Pittsburgh is 0-4 in its last four games versus a right-handed starter.
New York
The Mets are 0-4 in their last four Friday games. New York is 5-2 in its last seven games versus a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
Wheeler has been inconsistent all season and Agrazal is coming off a good start where he struck out five over six innings against the Phillies, showing he can indeed strike out batters. With Agrazal entering with confidence and the Mets as a team being an untrustworthy team, I like the Pirates to get the job done as underdogs tonight.
