Indians outlast Royals
Cleveland continued its recent strong trend by picking up a 5-4 win over the Royals in 14 innings on Thursday night. The Indians are 60-42 on the season, 28-21 on the road and 56-43 with the under. Zach Plesac is taking the mound today. He is 4-3 on the season with a 3.50 ERA.
A 3-3 regulation game turned into a 14-inning battle with the Tribe getting the 5-4 win. Jose Ramirez homered to start the 14th and then Jake Bauers had a RBI single for what turned out to be the winning run. Ramirez and Jason Kipnis each had three hits in the win while Francisco Lindor also had three hits with a home run. Adam Plutko made the start and he went 5.1 innings while allowing three runs. The Cleveland bullpen threw 8.2 innings of 1-run ball with Nick Goody getting the win and A.J. Cole earning his first save.
Royals edged
Kansas City has been playing very well as of late, winning seven of their last 10 despite the loss to the Indians on Thursday night. KC is 39-65 on the season, 22-30 at home and 50-48 with the over. The Royals have Jakob Junis getting the start this evening. He is 6-8 on the season with a 4.83 ERA.
The Royals came up just short of extending Thursday’s game even further. Jorge Soler drove in his 72nd run of the season, but KC couldn’t quite tie it in the 14th. Alex Gordon and Bubba Starling each had three hits in the win while Hunter Dozier homered and drove in two runs. Mike Montgomery got the start and pitched five innings of 1-run ball. Brian Flynn took the loss by allowing the two runs in the 14th.
MLB Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Indians are 9-1 in their last 10 road games and 12-3 in their last 15 games following a win.
Kansas City
The Royals are 4-1 in their last five home games, but just 4-9 in their last 13 Friday games.
Prediction:
Both pitchers are doing pretty well right now. Plesac hasn’t been shelled too often, though his ERA against KC is just 4.15 through two starts. Junis has given up just three runs over his last 20 runs. However, in four starts against Cleveland, he has a 5.87 ERA. I think today is going to be about bullpen. Both teams had to use a lot of arms last night, so available pitchers today will be limited. Cleveland is likely to have the better options available. I think the Tribe squeak out another win.
MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians -135
