Dodgers surrender five in fifth, lose at Philly

A five-run fifth inning by the Phillies sent LA to a 7-3 defeat at Philadelphia Wednesday afternoon. Joc Pederson went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs to help pace the offense. Manny Machado finished 1-for-3 plus a walk. Max Muncy was 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two RBIs. Alex Verdugo finished 2-for-4 with a double. Walker Buehler suffered the loss as he allowed five earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk over 4 2/3 innings.

Braves crushed by Marlins

After winning the opener of the quick two-game series, Atlanta was unable to complete the sweep over Miami as it lost 9-3 on Wednesday. Julio Teheran took the loss as he gave up nine earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and two walks over 4 1/3 innings. Charlie Culberson helped lead the Braves offense by going 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Freddie Freeman was 2-for-4, while Johan Camargo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run.

Rich Hill (3-4, 4.26 ERA) gets the start today for Los Angeles, while Atlanta will go with Anibal Sanchez (5-2, 2.76).

MLB Betting Trends

Los Angeles

The Dodgers are 20-9 in its last 29 road games. Los Angeles is 6-2 in the last eight meetings.

The Braves are 7-1 in their last eight Thursday games. Atlanta is 8-2 in Sanchez' last 10 starts on grass.

Hill looks to have righted the ship to his season, while Sanchez has been a huge boost to the Atlanta rotation. If both starters can work into the seventh inning before turning it over to the bullpens, this game has a great chance at hitting the under. A lot of bettors will gravitate toward the two offenses, but there is very solid pitching in this matchup too.
