From Rotoworld: Matz surrendered three runs over five innings in a no-decision against the Athletics on Friday. Matz was pulled for a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the fifth inning, much to his dismay. The southpaw limited the A’s to one run through the first four innings before giving up two runs in his final frame. He gave up nine hits in all while striking out five and walking none. At the very least, it was an improvement from his last two outings. He’ll bring a 4.67 ERA into a start against the Rockies in Coors Field next week.
Chacin was scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday against the Mets due to back tightness. The hope is that he will be able to start on Wednesday. Kyle Lloyd is set to take the mound in Chacin’s place Tuesday in what will be the 26-year-old right-hander’s major league debut.
