Red Sox’ Price holds Red Sox scoreless over 6 1/3 innings
David Price blanked the Tigers over 6 1/3 innings in a 1-0 victory on Friday. Price retired the first nine batters he faced before running into some traffic on the basepaths, but he managed to keep his former team off the board. The veteran southpaw allowed just four hits on the night — all of them singles — while walking one and striking out five. This was his first scoreless outing since his second start of the season, so it’s a step in the right direction. Price will try to stay on that path with a start next week in Baltimore.
Bundy allows three home runs in no-decision vs. Blue Jays
Dylan Bundy gave up five runs over five innings with three strikeouts in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Friday. The ball was jumping in Toronto, and Bundy gave up three homers in the no-decision. He was generally solid over the first four innings, but he allowed four runs in the fifth to ruin the outing. Fortunately for Bundy, the Orioles were able to come back in the ninth to prevent him from picking up his 10th loss of 2018. He’ll take the nine losses along with a 4.57 ERA over 108 1/3 innings when he’s back on the mound on Wednesday when he faces the Red Sox at home.
MLB Betting Trends
Boston
The Red Sox have won 11 of Price’s last 13 starts.
Baltimore
The Orioles have lost 13 of Bundy’s last 16 starts versus American League East opponents.
Prediction:
Despite losing last night, the Red Sox are still 13-3 in their last 16 games against the Orioles and are 19-7 in their last 26 games played in Baltimore. Boston has won five straight games against the Orioles in which Price has started, too. Finally, the Orioles are winless in Bundy’s last five starts versus the Red Sox and are 1-5 in his last six home outings against Boston. The Red Sox should rebound tonight.
The Pick: Boston Red Sox -1.5 (-120)
