From Rotoworld: deGrom gave up just one run in 6 2/3 innings to earn a 7-3 victory over the Cardinals on Wednesday. He rattled off six shutout innings before tiring in the seventh. He walked two batters in that frame and was relieved after throwing 110 pitches. Reliever Jerry Blevins promptly allowed both inherited runners to score. DeGrom improves to 11-3 with a 3.37 ERA in 19 starts. He has a splendid 144/40 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 125 2/3 innings. He lines up for a very attractive two-start week coming up, with road games against the Padres and Mariners on tap.
Richard was rocked in Wednesday’s loss to the Rockies, surrendering 11 runs on 14 hits over 3 2/3 innings. Oh dear goodness. The Rockies scored in all four innings Richard was on the mound, posting three runs in the first inning, one in the second and two in the third before blowing the game open with six runs (five on Richard’s line) in the fourth. Those 11 total runs allowed tied a team record. The terrible outing also predictably did a number on his ERA, jumping it from 4.75 to 5.43. He will try for sharper results in a home start against the Mets next time out — it can’t get much worse.
