St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin
Paul Goldschmidt hit a grand slam in the top of the 10th to lead the Cardinals to a 6-5 win over the Pirates on Monday. The Cardinals ended up needing all four of the runs, since the Pirates scored three times off Chasen Shreve and Carlos Martinez in the bottom of the 10th. Goldschmidt’s homer was his lone hit of the night. He hasn’t been able to bring up his average at all, but he does now have five homers and 17 RBI in his last 14 games.
Pittsburgh Pirates Fantasy Spin
In his second at-bat after coming off the bench, Jung Ho Kang hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th Monday against the Cardinals. It wasn’t enough for the Pirates tonight, but it might help Kang’s case for more playing time. He has four homers in 32 at-bats this month, but he’s still batting .184 with a horrific .236 OBP overall.
MLB Betting Trends
St. Louis
The Cardinals have now won eight of their last 10 overall and five of six against fellow National League Central foes.
Pittsburgh
The Pirates have dropped eight of their last 10 games overall and are 2-5 in their last seven games versus a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
The Cardinals have been highly profitable when Dakota Hudson starts. They’re 10-1 in his alst 11 outings overall, are 6-1 in his last seven road starts and have won seven straight when he starts versus an opponent with a losing record. The Pirates, meanwhile, are winless at 0-5 in Chris Archer’s last five games following a quality start in his last appearance and are just 2-5 in their last seven games coming off a loss.
The Pick: St. Louis Cardinals +115
