From Rotoworld: Lamet allowed six runs – five earned – and four hits with four walks and seven strikeouts across four innings in a loss Tuesday in Colorado. The rookie threw 45 of his 77 pitches for strikes, allowing six runs – five earned – over four frames for the second consecutive outing. The good news is he still has produced a decent number of strikeouts, but the bad news is he has totaled eight strikeouts over eight July innings after issuing just eight free passes across 27 innings in June.
Blach allowed just one earned run while scattering seven hits across seven innings in a no-decision against the Indians on Tuesday. Blach was outstanding, throwing 64 of his 106 pitches for strikes in the quality start. He is showing why the team elected to keep him in the rotation and move veteran Matt Cain to the bullpen. Blach’s next scheduled start is set for Sunday against the offensively-challenged Padres.
