Tigers vs. Twins Pick
Will it be the Minnesota Twins or the Detroit Tigers that walk away with the weekend series when the two have their rubber match today at 2:10PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, this game is considered even, as both teams are getting odds of -105 to win. The over/under total for the contest has been listed at 10.5 runs.

The pitching matchup today has Matthew Boyd (3-5, 5.58 ERA) on the mound for the Tigers to face Adalberto Mejia (4-4, 4.22) of the Twins. Boyd hasn’t been great this year, but he hasn’t allowed more than four runs in nine of his last 10 starts. Boyd had 40 strikeouts with 25 walks this season and a 1.73 WHIP. Mejia hasn’t allowed more than four runs in six straight starts. He has allowed two or fewer in four of those six starts. Mejia has 58 strikeouts this season with 32 walks and a 1.44 WHIP.
These two have split the first two games of this weekend series. Detroit picked up a 6-3 win on Friday and then Minnesota earned a 6-5 win on Saturday. The Twins are now 49-47 on the season and 23-30 at home while Detroit is 44-52 overall and 19-31 on the road.
The Twins established a 6-0 lead on the Tigers on Saturday. Detroit managed to put up five runs in the eighth, but couldn’t complete the comeback. Kyle Gibson had one of his best starts of the season, allowing just three runs over 7.1 innings. Jordan Zimmerman took the loss for Detroit as he gave up five runs in 3.2 innings. Zach Granite had three hits to lead the Twins in the win while Eddie Rosario and Jason Castro each had two hits and a RBI. Justin Upton led the Tigers with his 16th home run of the season and three RBI.
I am surprised to see these odds as even, as Mejia hasn’t been too bad of a pitcher lately and is facing a struggling Detroit team. Boyd is certain to give up at least three runs, if not more. He hasn’t been able to be a lockdown pitcher and I don’t see him getting really deep into the game. Handing the ball over to the Detroit bullpen hasn’t gone well in most instances either.
