Marlins swept by Dodgers

Miami is coming off a three-game sweep on the road at the hands of the Dodgers. Miami has lost six of its last eight games. The Marlins are 36-61 on the season, 18-29 on the road and 49-43 with the under. Trevor Richards is getting the start for Miami tonight. He is 3-11 on the season with a 4.24 ERA.

The Marlins rank last in the majors in scoring, putting up just 3.60 runs per game this season while hitting .240 as a squad. The pitching isn’t too bad, as the Marlins have a 4.36 team ERA and a 1.34 team WHIP. Brian Anderson is leading the team at the plate this season with 22 doubles, 13 home runs and 46 RBI. Starlin Castro has 12 doubles, eight homers and 41 RBI.

White Sox take series in Tampa

Chicago had been on a long losing streak but managed to take two of three in Tampa this weekend to snap out of its funk. The White Sox are 44-52 on the season, 25-20 at home 47-46 with the under. Chicago has Ivan Nova getting the start this evening. He is 4-9 on the season with a 5.86 ERA.

The Sox are putting up 4.25 runs per game this season while hitting .256 as a squad. On the mound, Chicago has a 5.09 team ERA with a 1.47 team WHIP. The White Sox are being led by Jose Abreu, who has 21 doubles, 21 home runs and 69 RBI. Yoan Moncada has 19 doubles, 17 home runs and 52 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

Miami

The Marlins have won four straight against AL Central opponents and four of their last five interleague road games.

Chicago

The White Sox have won six straight home games following a road trip of seven or more days, but they are just 1-6 in their last seven against NL East opponents.

Prediction:

Nova has been struggling most of the season, giving up at least four runs in seven of his last nine starts. Richards hasn’t been much better, as Miami has lost his last seven outings and he has given up at least three runs in five of his last six appearances. Though Chicago has the better record, Miami actually has the better numbers. The Marlins have the better pitching and their hitting isn’t far off that of the Sox. I think Miami will be able to use its stronger pitching to get the road win tonight.

MLB Prediction: Miami Marlins -110
