The New York Mets will send Jacob deGrom to the mound on Sunday Night Baseball as they attempt to win their series in the Bronx at the New York Yankees. Can the Mets take care of business tonight despite being a large road underdog?

Yankees hold off late Mets rally
Aroldis Chapman struggled to close out Saturday’s game as he surrendered three earned runs on an infield hit and three walks, not retiring a batter as the Mets trimmed their deficit to 7-6 in the ninth inning. It doubled the amount of runs Chapman has allowed this season, bumping his total to six in 40 innings of work. Chasen Shreve took over the on the mound for the Yanks and recorded the next three outs for his first save of the season. Sonny Gray earned the win as he gave up three runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out six and walking three over 5 1/3 innings. Aaron Judge helped lead the way as he finished 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a double. Miguel Andujar went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and an RBI. Greg Bird was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Austin Romine went 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
Rosario has three-hit game
Mets shortstop Amed Rosario, formerly the top prospect in baseball, has shown some signs of breaking out in July and he had another strong game Saturday as he finished 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Michael Conforto was 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs. Jose Bautista was 0-for-2 with two walks and a run. Steven Matz took the loss as he allowed five earned runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and a walk over five innings.
Entering today’s start, deGrom has a 5-4 record and 1.68 ERA. He will be opposing Yankees starter Masahiro Tanaka (7-2, 4.54).

New York Yankees
The over is 6-1-2 in the last nine Yankees games overall. The under is 12-3 in the last 15 interleague games.
Prediction:
While the Yankees are as good as anyone in their home park, deGrom gives the Mets a fighter’s chance. He has been the recipient of poor run support all season, but for whatever reason I think the Mets get to Tanaka tonight. He is occasionally vulnerable to horrendous outings and why not take that gamble with deGrom opposing him? If it loses, we can accept it but the plus money here makes this a bet worth making in my opinion.
