Red Sox bounce back
After taking an embarrassing 11-2 loss to the Orioles on Friday, Boston bounced back nicely on Saturday. The Red Sox cruised to a 17-6 victory. Boston is 54-45 on the year, 30-20 on the road and 57-39 with the over. The Sox have Andrew Cashner getting the start against his former team. Cashner is 9-4 on the year with a 4.09 ERA.
The Red Sox pounded out 17 runs on 17 hits Saturday, including five home runs. Jackie Bradley Jr. had two of the five home runs and he drove in six for the game. Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez each had three hits and two runs in the win while combining for five RBI. Rick Porcello didn’t pitch terribly well, giving up six runs on 11 hits over five innings. However, Porcello still got the win thanks to all the run support. He is now 8-7 on the year.
Orioles return to form
Baltimore got the surprising win on Friday, but looked more like what we expect on Saturday in the 11-run loss. The Orioles are now 30-67 on the year, 14-36 at home and 48-44 with the over. Baltimore has Asher Wojciechowski on the mound today. He is 0-3 on the year with a 5.74 ERA.
The Orioles showcased their awful pitching on Saturday. Four pitchers combined for 17 runs, though just nine were earned, on 17 hits with five walks and seven strikeouts. Thomas Eshelman took the loss, allowing nine runs in 3.2 innings. He is now 0-2 on the year. Jacob Yacabonis gave up seven runs while recording just one out in relief work. At the plate, the Orioles weren’t terrible. Renato Nunez had a three-run home run to lead the way, while Anthony Santander had four hits with a solo home run.
MLB Betting Trends
Boston
The Red Sox are 27-10 in their last 36 road games and 32-14 in their last 46 Sunday games.
Baltimore
The Orioles are just 29-71 in their last 100 AL East games and 14-42 in their last 56 games on grass.
Prediction:
Cashner is making his second start with the Red Sox. His first start with Boston wasn’t great, allowing six runs in five innings against the Jays. However, he had been pitching pretty well for Baltimore prior to that. Asher has given up 10 earned runs in 15.2 innings of work this season and his starts aren’t very lengthy. Baltimore doesn’t have the bullpen to back him up while Cashner has the better pen and batting behind him now to really start getting wins.
MLB Prediction: Boston Red Sox -230
