Syndergaard guides Mets to win
Mets starter Noah Syndergaard threw five one-hit innings to send his squad to a 7-5 victory at the Yankees last night. He scattered eight hits while striking out four and walking one to earn the win. The Mets led 6-1 when he departed. Brandon Nimmo finished 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run. Yoenis Cespedes was 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs in his first game back from a lengthy stint on the DL. Asdrubal Cabrera went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Michael Conforto ended the night 2-for-4 with a double, a run and three RBIs. Devin Mesoraco was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Robert Gsellman threw the final two innings, giving up two unearned runs on two hits with two strikeouts and two walks to pick up his fifth save.
Judge, Gregorius record three-hit nights
Aaron Judge finished 3-for-5 with a run in Friday’s loss for the Yankees, while Didi Gregorius was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Giancarlo Stanton was 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs. Aaron Hicks went 1-for-4 with a walk. Greg Bird was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run. Miguel Andujar finished 2-for-5, while Neil Walker was 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and two RBIs. Domingo German took the loss as he allowed four earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts and two walks over 3 2/3 innings.
Steven Matz (4-7, 3.38 ERA) will start today for the Mets, while the Yankees turn to Sonny Gray (6-7, 5.48).
MLB Betting Trends
New York Mets
The Mets are 3-10 in their last 13 Saturday games. The Mets are 7-19 in their last 26 Saturday games.
New York Yankees
The under is 12-2 in the last 14 Yankees interleague games. The Yankees are 6-2 in the last eight meetings.
Prediction:
Gray looked a lot better his last start and I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a solid second half. He can also get by with a few blemishes due to how strong the Yankees offense typically is. Even though the Mets offense is better with Cespedes in the lineup, I can’t see them winning two in a row at Yankees Stadium. Matz is going to have his hands full with the likes of Stanton and Judge.
