According to oddsmakers, the Indians are the heavy favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -275 to win. Royals on a hot streak
Kansas City is on its best stretch of the season. The Royals have won four straight and six of their last seven after sweep the White Sox in a four-game series at home. KC is 36-62 overall, 14-33 on the road and 49-43 with the over. Kansas City has Mike Montgomery making his debut with the team today. He is 1-2 on the year with a 5.67 ERA through his time with the Cubs.
The Royals are slowly crawling up the stat boards in MLB due to their hot streak. On the mound, KC has a 5.00 team ERA and a 1.46 team WHIP. At the plate, KC is averaging 4.40 runs per game while hitting .251 as a squad. Jorge Soler has been leading the team with 20 doubles, 26 home runs and 69 RBI. Adalberto Mondesi has 17 doubles, 52 RBI and 31 stolen bases. However, he is out tonight due to a shoulder injury.
Tribe on a roll
Cleveland has won five straight coming into tonight after beating the Tigers in four straight by multiple runs. The Indians are now 55-40 on the season, 30-20 at home and 51-41 with the under. The Tribe have Shane Bieber getting the start this evening. He is 8-3 on the season with a 3.49 ERA.
The Indians have one of the stronger pitching staffs in the league, as they have a 3.88 team ERA with a 1.21 team WHIP. At the plate, the Tribe are putting up 4.57 runs per game while hitting the .246. Carlos Santana is leading the team with 19 doubles, 21 home runs and 54 RBI. Jose Ramirez is adding nine home runs, 43 RBI and 20 stolen bases.
MLB Betting Trends
Kansas City
The Royals are just 21-53 in their last 73 road games and 8-21 in their last 29 games following a win.
Cleveland
The Indians have won five straight at home and 18 of their last 23 games against a left-handed starter.
Prediction:
The Royals are hot, but got hot by playing the Tigers and White Sox. Hitting the road to face a hot Cleveland team will be another story. Montgomery is also making a jump from the NL to the AL and going from relief work to starting. His numbers aren’t very strong and he hasn’t pitched since July 2. Bieber has been steady. He’s giving up a few runs, but getting Cleveland deep into games where the bullpen has closed things out. He walks few, so that should keep KC from getting a lot of chances to steal bases. I like the Tribe to put an end to KC’s win streak.
MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians -1.5 (-140)
