Tigers get shutout
Detroit suffered another loss on Tuesday night, falling 8-0 to the Indians. They have lost seven of their last eight games. Detroit is now 29-61 overall, 17-29 on the road and 44-40 with the under. The Tigers have Spencer Turnbull getting the start this evening. He is 3-8 on the season with a 3.59 ERA.
The Tigers were held to just one hit in Tuesday’s loss while giving up seven runs in the first three innings. Nicholas Castellanos had the lone hit in the game, which was a single. Ryan Carpenter was shelled, giving up seven runs over three innings on seven hits. He is now 1-6 on the year.
Indians dominate
Cleveland rolled to an 8-0 victory over the Tigers on Tuesday night. The Tribe have won three straight. Cleveland is 53-40 on the season, 28-20 at home and 51-39 with the under. The Indians have Mike Clevinger on the mound today. He is 2-2 on the season with a 3.99 ERA.
The Indians used four pitchers on Tuesday night, with all combining for the shutout. Zach Plesac threw three hitless innings in the start while Nick Goody was credited for his first win of the year by pitching two scoreless innings in relief. At the plate, Tyler Naquin and Oscar Mercado each homered to lead the Tribe. Mercado and Francisco Lindor both drove in two runs.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers are 11-41 in their last 52 games overall and 0-6 in Turbull’s last six starts.
Cleveland
The Indians have won seven of their last eight after a win and eight of their last 11 home games.
Prediction:
After a rough start to his 2019, mainly due to injuries, Clevinger looks like he is starting to get on track. He has allowed just one run over 11 innings with 15 strikeouts and two walks. Turnbull has probably been Detroit’s top starter, but he doesn’t get much aid from his hitters or relievers. In three starts against Cleveland, Turnbull has a 7.07 ERA. Things haven’t gone well for him against the Tribe and I don’t think it will turn around tonight. Look for the Indians to get another lopsided win.
MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians -1.5 (-135)
