Voth struggles in MLB debut

Austin Voth made his big league debut Saturday afternoon and was shelled in a 7-4 loss, giving up seven earned runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and three walks over 4 1/3 innings. Adam Eaton helped pace the offense by going 3-for-4 with a double and two runs. Anthony Rendon was 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and an RBI. Matt Adams went 1-for-4 with a 2-run homer.

Conforto homers in win

Mets outfielder Michael Conforto finished 1-for-3 with a 3-run homer in Saturday's victory. New York scored three runs in the third and four in the fifth to establish a 7-0 advantage. Wilmer Flores was 2-for-4 and scored two runs. Kevin Plawecki was 2-for-4 with a run. Jose Reyes finished 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Zack Wheeler earned the win as he allowed four earned runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts and two walks over 7 2/3 innings. Jeurys Familia threw a perfect ninth inning with a strikeout to earn his 17th save.

Jeremy Hellickson (3-1, 3.47 ERA) starts today for the Nats, while Corey Oswalt (0-2, 6.75) goes for the Mets.

MLB Betting Trends

The Nationals are 5-16 in their last 21 road games. Washington is 50-19 in its last 69 meetings at New York.

New York

The Mets are 7-20 in their last 27 home games. New York is 16-35 in its last 51 games overall.

Washington might be the most disappointing team in baseball with its results to go with its array of talent. The Nationals are losing time each day to make a serious puch in the NL East and can't afford series losses to teams like the Mets. I still believe Washington has a run in it and with the better pitcher on the mound today, I'm going with the favored team.
