Tigers fall again
Detroit has lost five straight games following a 4-1 loss to the Royals on Saturday night. The Tigers are now 28-59 overall, 16-27 on the road and 43-38 with the under. Detroit has Jordan Zimmerman taking the mound today. He is 0-6 on the year with a 6.29 ERA.
Detroit had another awful day at the plate on Saturday, amassing just four hits to produce one run. The run came on a RBI triple from Harold Castro. The top four batters in the Detroit lineup went a combined 0-fot-16. Matt Boyd had a respectable start, throwing seven innings and allowing four earned runs with 10 strikeouts. But, he took the loss to fall to 6-7 on the year.
Royals looking for sweep
It’s been a while since Kansas City could say it swept an opponent, but that could be the case today after 8-5 and 4-1 wins over the Tigers this weekend. KC is 32-61 on the season, 18-28 at home and 46-42 with the over. Homer Bailey gets the start for KC today. He is 7-6 on the season with a 4.80 ERA.
Brad Keller had a tremendous start for the Royals on Saturday. He pitched eight innings, striking out seven while allowing just the one run on four hits. Keller got the win to move to 5-9 on the year. Ian Kennedy got the save, his 13th of the year, with a perfect ninth. At the plate Cheslor Cuthbert drove in two runs for the Royals while White Merrifield had two hits and scored a run.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers are just 29-62 in their last 91 road games and 11-40 in their last 51 games overall.
Kansas City
The Royals are just 6-21 in their last 27 games following a win and 9-24 in their last 33 Sunday games.
Prediction:
The Tigers are on a pretty remarkable run, going 11-40 in their last 51 games. That’s pretty awful. Today they have Zimmerman on the mound, who has lost all six decisions of 2019 and is coming off giving up seven runs in 3.1 innings to the Red Sox. Bailey hasn’t had a great 2019, but he has improved over the last month. In four of his last five starts, he has allowed two runs or less. Given the Tigers struggles at the plate, I would expect Bailey to have another strong start and lead KC to the sweep.
MLB Prediction: Kansas City Royals -155
