Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers, the Athletics are the favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -200 to win. Chicago is listed with odds of +175 to win, while the over/under total for the contest is set at 9.5 runs. The public betting for the contest currently has 74 percent going on Oakland at home. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Chicago being overwhelmed
Chicago has struggled out West in this series, losing the first two games of the series by a combined score of 18-3. The Sox are 42-46 on the season, 17-26 on the road and 43-43 with the over/under total. Chicago has Reynaldo Lopez getting the start this afternoon. He is 4-8 on the year with a 6.34 ERA.
Chicago never really had a shot on Saturday, as the White Sox fell behind 7-0 in the first inning. Dylan Covey was shelled for six runs while recording only two outs in his start. He fell to 1-5 in the loss. Chicago had two use seven pitchers during the game. At the plate, Jon Jay had two of the team’s seven hits while Yoan Moncada and Jose Rondon each drove in a run.
Oakland cruises
The Athletics earned a dominant 13-2 win over Chicago on Saturday and they have now won five of their last six games. Oakland is 52-41 on the season, 28-20 at home and 48-45 with the under. The A’s have Brett Anderson taking the mound today. He is 9-5 on the year with a 3.86 ERA.
The Athletics took control of Saturday’s game right away with seven runs in the first and another four in the in fourth. Despite all the runs, Oakland had one home run. That was a three-run shot from Franklin Barreto. Robbie Grossman also drove in three runs in the win while Matt Chapman had three hits and scored twice. On the mound, Chris Bassitt got the win. He improved to 6-4 by throwing six scoreless innings with six strikeouts.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox are just 1-6 in their last seven road games and 2-6 in their last eight road games against a left-handed starter.
Oakland
The Athletics have won five straight Game 3’s of a series and 41 of their last 51 games against AL Central opponents.
Prediction:
The Athletics are just dominant against AL Central opponents. A 41-10 record in their last 51 is pretty incredible for any team against a single division. They have another capable arm on the mound today in Anderson, who has given up just two runs over his last 14 innings. Lopez has been on the opposite end, allowing 18 runs over his last 22.2 innings. In his last eight starts, Lopez has allowed at least five runs in five of them. I like Oakland to continue its hot streak and beat up Chicago again today.
MLB Prediction: Oakland Athletics -1.5 (-115)
