Rangers’ Perez coming off Triple-A start for rehab
Martin Perez (elbow) will make another minor league rehab start Thursday with Triple-A Round Rock. Perez has worked 11 scoreless innings between Low-A Hickory and Double-A Frisco, and could be cleared to return to the Rangers’ rotation next week if Thursday’s outing goes as smoothly. The 27-year-old left-hander was placed on the disabled list in late April with an elbow injury after posting a 9.67 ERA over his first five starts for Texas.
Orioles recall Ramirez for start in place of Cashner
Orioles recalled RHP Yefry Ramirez from Triple-A Norfolk. Ramirez will get a start this weekend in place of Andrew Cashner (neck). He holds a 3.93 ERA and 17/6 K/BB ratio over 18 1/3 innings for the O’s this season. Ramirez isn’t a terribly desirable streaming option against the Rangers.
MLB Betting Trends
Texas
The Rangers are 11-5 in Perez’s last 16 starts overall.
Baltimore
The Orioles are just 12-39 in their last 51 games.
Prediction:
The over is 3-0-2 in Perez’s last five starts overall, is 9-4 in his last 13 outings when pitching the second game of a series and is 10-0-2 in his last 12 starts versus the American League East. Given the pitching matchup tonight, the over shouldn’t fall short like it did last night.
The Pick: Rangers/Orioles over 10
