Latest on O’Grady via Rotoworld: Marlins purchased the contract of O’Grady from Triple-A New Orleans. O’Grady is slated to make his major league debut in a start Saturday against the Giants. After being let go by the Angels in April, the 27-year-old has reeled off a 3.29 ERA and 54/15 K/BB ratio over 54 2/3 innings this season in Triple-A. However, he makes for a shaky fantasy option in his MLB debut.
Samardzija surrendered two runs on six hits over six innings in Sunday’s win over the Pirates. Samardzija allowed a two-run homer to Jordy Mercer in the fourth inning, but otherwise managed to keep the Pirates off the scoreboard. He struck out five without walking a batter in the contest. Up next on the docket, a home start against the Marlins. Samardzija will carry a 4.54 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 123/13 K/BB ratio (111 innings) into that one.
