Moustakas, Grandal homer in defeat
Milwaukee fell by a score of 12-2 at Pittsburgh Saturday evening to drop to 47-43 overall and 20-25 on the road. Yasmani Grandal helped pace the Brewers offense as he went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Mike Moustakas ended the game 1-for-3 with a solo homer plus a walk. Christian Yelich was 2-for-2 plus a walk. Adrian Houser suffered the loss as he surrendered five earned runs on seven hits over four innings, striking out five and walking three. Chase Anderson draws the start today for Milwaukee as he enters with a 4-2 record, 4.31 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 63 strikeouts over 62 2/3 innings.
Pirates offense erupts
Pittsburgh scored four runs in the first inning and five in the eighth Saturday afternoon at home in a 12-2 victory over Milwaukee. Kevin Newman helped lead the offense as he went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Melky Cabrera finished 1-for-2 with a homer and two RBIs off the bench. Colin Moran ended the game 4-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs. Dario Agrazal picked up the win for the Pirates as he allowed two earned runs on five hits over six innings, striking out one and walking two. Joe Musgrove gets the start today for Pittsburgh as he comes in with a 6-7 record, 4.13 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 78 strikeouts over 93 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
The Brewers are 17-5 in their last 22 Sunday games. Milwaukee is 1-4 in its last five games versus the AL Central.
The Pirates are 8-2 in their last 10 home games. Pittsburgh is 4-1 in its last five games versus a right-handed starter.
Pittsburgh has been rolling at home and Musgrove is in decent form right now. With how good the Pirates offense has been as of late, Musgrove should get the run support needed here. In a jam-packed NL Central race, the Pirates need every win they can get as they look to climb the standings. I think the wrong team is the slight favorite going. Taking the hosts to win.
