Bautista wins it with grand slam
Mets right fielder Jose Bautista hit the first walk-off home run of his career Friday night, hitting a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning to send his squad to a 5-1 home win over the Rays. Bautista also walked twice in five plate appearances. Brandon Nimmo was 0-for-4, but walked once and scored two runs. Todd Frazier finished 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Devin Mesoraco was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run. Jeurys Familia threw an inning of scoreless relief to get the win, giving up one hit and striking out one.
Adames homers for lone Rays run
Tampa Bay rookie shortstop Willie Adames hit his third MLB home run Friday, a solo shot off Jacob deGrom which tied the score at 1-1 in the top of the fifth. Adames later struck out against Familia with the bases loaded in the ninth Kevin Kiermaier finished 1-for-4 with a double. Tampa Bay only had five hits as a team. Chaz Roe suffered the loss in relief as he allowed four earned runs on two hits with no strikeouts and two walks in one inning of work.
MLB Betting Trends
The Rays are 3-15 in their last 18 road games. Tampa Bay is 3-11 in its last 14 interleague games.
The over is 8-1 in the last nine meetings. The Mets are 6-16 in their last 22 interleague games.
Snell has been phenomenal this season and it's hard to see a subpar Mets offense getting much of anything off him. Matz has his moments, but still shows some inconsistency and the Rays have hit lefties fairly well. I'm going to say Snell tosses another gem and Tampa Bay evens the series.
